Beowulf

With satisfaction, Beowulf hung the muscular, severed arm on the entrance of the Great Hall. Soon after that, Hrothgar announced to the people of Heorot that a celebration was to be held for the brave Beowulf. The celebration began.

“Presentation time! I would like to invite Beowulf to the stage!” announced Hrothgar as Beowulf approached. “After your amazing fight, you rid us from the ghastly monster therefore you shall be rewarded with this golden sword.”

“Oh thank you but we must be heading home.” exclaimed Beowulf.

After celebrating once more, Beowulf suggested they journeyed home to share the great news. Meanwhile, Grendel’s mother soared through the sky on her dragon and spotted Grendel’s arm hanging on the Great Hall. Confused and upset, she went on a search for Grendel. Finding him curled up in a dark, damp cave, she couldn’t wait for revenge!

Back in Denmark, the Geats had set sail and the unhappy pair were following them! Finally, on board the battle ship, one of the men bellowed “Land Ahoy!” A few minutes later, their mammoth ship had done them good and they were home. Another endless celebration was held for the courageous and powerful Beowulf but something was bizarre – he had not seen his uncle since he had returned. Beowulf did not know, when all the party food was being eaten, Hygelac had suffered an unfortunate and ghastly death! To his surprise, Beowulf found the King with organs spurting out and blood everywhere. He knew there was only one monster capable of this horror. Beowulf went back and ordered his army to search for Grendel, unaware that there were two!

After hours of searching, the two beasts were found in a damp and inky forest and a fight began. It was treacherous. There were screams of terrified monsters and roars of pain. Beowulf’s sword then scarped his heart as blood rushed out. It was a blood-curdling sight. Near to death, Beowulf took his last breath and wished he has never embarked on this courageous mission but seeing Grendel collapse in pain, he just hoped that they were finally free of death.
