Tower and Town, August 2015(view the full edition)      Editorial: Why I Go To ...People in Marlborough are busy and there are so many different ways of being busy! If you want to know about the activities that are available, read the local papers, see the adverts in the library and shops, or scan the internet. If however you want to know whypeople are singing, reading, fishing, meeting over shared soup, swinging golf clubs, driving the community bus, meeting former presidents, or are volunteering at Savernake Hospital, read your Tower and Town! Things are always changing, but the human desire to be part of something beyond the self is ever present in most people, quietly or strongly. In Marlborough and in the surrounding area we are fortunate to have such a wide range of opportunities for participation in things big or small, quietly or in full voice. There are of course many more clubs, organisations and groups than this issue can accommodate, but here is a taste. You might be fully engaged in your own pursuits or, after reading this, be tempted to give a new venture a try. Whatever you do - enjoy! Ilse Nikolsky |
