Amazing Animal Classification

Explore Charles Darwin's excellent theory.

Charles Darwin was born in 1809. His father was a doctor and he wanted his son to earn a medical degree at Edinburgh University in Scotland.

As he grew older he became more interested in natural history than medicine. That's when he had a theory of animal classification. He decided to classify animals into five different groups: fish, mammals, amphibians, reptiles and birds.

Also, he had a theory on vertebrates and invertebrates. Vertebrates have a backbone like: cows, cats and dogs. Invertebrates don't have a backbone like: jellyfish, worms and snails.
