This is Suchet's latest release, which stands apart as a deeply personal account of his relationship with the composer. He charts a journey from Beethoven's early years in Bonn to his life in Vienna, following in the composer's footsteps and interweaving his story with Suchet's own. Suchet says that his lifelong fascination with the composer has shaped his own life and career. He writes of first discovering Beethoven as a young man, how his music (and his third symphony the 'Eroica' in particular) accompanied him on some of his most challenging overseas reporting for ITN, his many trips exploring places where Beethoven lived and worked, and how his wife Nula now shares his passion.
