Florence Butterfield, the main protagonist in this story, has lived an extraordinarily full life. At 87 years old, she suspects there are no more surprises to come. Then one midsummer's night, something terrible happens - so strange and unexpected that Florrie is suspicious. Was this really an accident, or is she living alongside a murderer? The only clue is a magenta envelope discarded earlier that day. Florrie - cheerfully independent but often overlooked - is the only person determined to uncover the truth. In doing so, she looks back on her own colourful past and we learn of a long-buried secret that can no longer be ignored. This event will give you a chance to continue the discussions that you may have had with your book groups about this year's Big Town Read.
