Tower and Town, December 2018(view the full edition)      Northern LightsAs part of our topic, Window on the World, the Year 6 children were asked to do some persuasive writing in the form of a travel brochure, encouraging people to visit Denmark (see pages 21, 22 and 23). Also some short descriptive pieces, describing the Northern Lights.
Rising up from behind the treacherous precipice, a minuscule light bleeds open into strong colours of light. Surrounding the magnificent sight, a starry, blue sky sneakily hides behind the eye-catching lights. Slowly, lurking over the majestic mountains the malevolent darkness crept in like fingers burrowing into light grains of sand. The king of the mighty mountains towered over all of the grand scenery. Reflections of the powerful colours appeared upon the breath-taking lake. Isolated rocks were scattered everywhere, also laying on the calm, whispering lake. The Aurora Borealis is like flowing, tender ripples in the sky. Using its magical vibes the jaw-dropping, breath-taking Northern lights spread their exquisite shine onto the amazing army of snow sprinkled mountains. Standing at attention, the spiked top mountains stood like statues and looked down at the crystallized lake. The mysterious mountains worshipped the vivid lights which merged into one another.
